Elle Serein’s third studio album, “No Strings Attached,” released on September 8th, 2024, marks a transformative moment in her career. Departing from her previous newlywed persona, Elle embraces a sexually ambiguous identity, delivering a groundbreaking record that redefines her musical landscape. The album kicks off with the infectious pop track “Twisted,” a banger that introduces Elle’s new sound, delving into the complexities of resisting a captivating lover. The momentum doesn’t wane with the high-energy production of “Bad Choices,” showcasing Elle’s exceptional songwriting, particularly in the standout chorus. Collaborating with German pop star DJC on “Friends,” the track explores the illicit bond between friends with shared romantic feelings. While strong, it may be the most forgettable on the album. “Hit Me Back,” a pop-rock anthem, follows, detailing Elle’s overthinking when not receiving texts from her lover—an eruption of emotions with a memorable chorus. The album’s pinnacle arrives with the career-defining title track, “No Strings Attached.” This sexy and daring song, reminiscent of Elle’s earlier hit “Love Me,” solidifies her as a pop genius. The final trio of songs, “He Had It Coming,” “This & That,” and “Better Than Me,” each shines in its own way. “He Had It Coming” serves as a revenge punk banger, addressing Elle’s former fiancé, while “Better Than Me” is a bouncy pop record where Elle uplifts herself, acknowledging her irreplaceable love. “This & That,” featuring a pre-chorus by Stanny winner Mia Laurent is a ballad that slows down the pace, providing a touch of traditional Elle. While “No Strings Attached” may surprise fans with its departure from “Forever Yours,” the album is a welcomed showcase of Elle’s versatility as both a songwriter and singer, delivering an alluring, seductive, and sensual experience that will undoubtedly stand out in her discography for years to
